Inner Earth, Outer Mind
2013-2016
These watercolor paintings made up my portfolio when I applied to MFA programs. The images I portray here are a convergence of my interests in dreams, Buddhist meditations on separate self, and connection to nature. I play with boundaries of the human figure, placing nature inside and outside of that boundary. I also vary the realism of that natural imagery. Abstraction here represents the filters that the human mind puts on the images it absorbs, altering the other as it becomes a part of self.
